Triple-pane package; where will it be used?

triple glazing

An important parameter that buyers of apartments and houses as well as investors pay attention to when planning window joinery is the number of panes in the package. The triple-pane package is one of the most common variants of glazing units. Where will it be used?

The choice of window and door joinery is dictated not only by investors' preferences, but also by top-down requirements for projects. Standards that must be met by windows and doors in new buildings are becoming more and more restrictive every year. In practice, they correspond to the standards of energy-efficient houses. The choice of windows for both single-family and multi-family buildings is important not only in terms of legal regulations - but also the comfort of users. Good windows are an ecological and economic solution. The right decisions will result in staying warm in the house and money in the wallet - better thermal insulation means lower operating costs. Since the largest area of the window is taken up by glass panes, the parameters of glazing are of importance - their number and number of chambers obtained, as well as the additives used, which increase the insulating properties of the joinery.

One glass, two or three?

The basic product is single-pane glazing. Single glass is used in partition walls, glass doors, balustrades - outside and in the construction of balconies and terraces. The double-pane package allows for a basic degree of thermal insulation. Two glass panes are connected by an aluminium spacer. The resulting inter-pane space is normally filled with 90% argon and 10% with air. Double-glazed units are often used in old buildings, also in rooms that are not intended for permanent stay of people, but where we want to keep the thermals - e.g. in utility rooms, garages, warehouses. In new projects, the standard of window joinery are triple-pane packages.

Triple-pane package – where can it be used?

The triple-pane package is a combination of three glass panes and two distance frames. As a result, two chambers are created, which, after being filled mainly with argon (as in the case of double-glazed units), enable the achievement of increased thermal properties of the entire window. The standard package is characterised by a thickness of 48 mm - which is made up of the total thickness of glazing and distance frames.

This structure and the gas used to fill the chambers make triple-pane windows with excellent thermal insulation, the heat transfer coefficient of which is characteristic of the standards of energy-efficient houses. The installation of woodwork with such parameters is a necessity if you want to meet the requirements of the European Directive 2010/31 / EU, because, inter alia, tight and warm windows help to reduce the energy demand of the building, in favour of the maximum use of renewable sources. The triple-pane package is actually a mandatory minimum for new construction - so if we are currently planning to build a house, it will be used there.
